Description: An unusual sampler with a distinctly medieval flavor. It features mythical beasts arranged around a central panel containing a decorative alphabet, and a scene of a dragon listening to a young woman playing a musical instrument. Background Information: Another very early piece, and an attempt to do something very different from traditional band-type samplers. I went for drama with the dark blue background and unusually shaped central panel. There is also a touch of "gothic" with the scroll leaf border, and the filagree pattern which recalls the tracery-work common in medieval architecture. The central scene is my attempt to show how I think a dragon would react to music...
Stitching Comments: A challenging piece because of its size, some quarter stitches, and the hand-drawn chart. But if you are a fantasy buff, you should find this piece interesting to stitch. Specialty Stitches: lazy-daisy Important Tips: Charting Technique, Organizing Floss
