Description: In this storybook scene, a large colorful dragon sits upright, listening attentively to a young traveller telling a tale. From their location on the rocky shore of a lake, they can see in the distance a walled fortress built atop a mountain. An ornate knotwork border echoing the green, blue, purple and gold of the dragon finishes the design. Background Information: "Puff, the Magic Dragon" was my favorite song when I was a child. I guess that's why I decided that although they are huge and ferocious-looking, dragons are not necessarily bad...just misunderstood. And I'm certainly not alone in dreaming of such creatures interacting willingly with us mere mortals: witness all the art and writing, dating from antiquity, devoted exclusively to dragons. For some reason, they truly fascinate!
Stitching Comments: As with most of my designs, there is alot going on in Storyteller: lots of colors (and blends), lots of fractional stitches, and lots of backstitching. I would have to say that the border is the most demanding part of this piece, but if you establish a logical pattern while stitching, it should go fairly quickly. The chart is in page form, and is very easy to read. Specialty Stitches: diamond eyelet Important Tips: Charting Technique, Organizing Floss, Large Designs, Miscellaneous Tips
